Высокогорное плато Лаго-Наки — уникальный уголок природы Большого Кавказа. Здесь можно встретить сразу несколько природных зон: от широколиственных лесов юга до высокогорного редколесья и альпийских лугов, цветущих с середины весны до середины осени. Сочная буйная зелень, усыпанная белыми цветами рододендрона, желтыми лютиками, бархатными фиалками, сиреневыми «дикими тюльпанами» и другими. Некоторые из них не встречаются больше нигде в мире.
Плато Лаго-Наки расположено на территории Западного Кавказского горного хребта, на высоте 2200 м над уровнем моря. Являясь миллионы лет назад дном Всемирного тёплого океана Тетис, плато и окружающие его скалы имеют коралловое строение и хранят следы древних морских обитателей.
Внимательные путники то и дело замечают древние окаменелости, отпечатки диковинных раковин, звёзд, растений одной стороны плато круто обрывается, открывая безумно красивый вид на горный край. Этот обрыв называется Каменное море. «Волны» Каменного моря то вертикально стоят в густом травяном покрове, то вздыблено «катятся» и застывают камне. Они то круглые и необыкновенно сглаженные, то острые и вытянутые.
